When can Celtics start making trades, free-agent signings?

The Boston Celtics could be very busy during this truncated NBA offseason, and their activity could begin very soon.

The NBA's trade moratorium is set to end Monday at 12 p.m. ET, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday. That means the Celtics are free to make trades as early as Monday afternoon.

What moves might Boston make? There's plenty of chatter about a potential deal prior to the 2020 NBA Draft.

The C's have three picks in Wednesday's draft (No. 14, No. 26 and No. 30) and reportedly are looking to package those picks to move up to a lottery selection, which it may try to flip in a trade for New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday, per a report.

The Celtics have their own trade chip in forward Gordon Hayward, who reportedly wants out of Boston and could accept his $34.2 million player option for 2020-21 as part of a sign-and-trade.

The New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers both have shown interest in Hayward, according to reports, with the latter potentially making Myles Turner available in a deal.

These deals all could hinge around the NBA Draft, but the action won't end Wednesday night. NBA free agency begins Friday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. ET, at which point the Celtics will need to decide whether to pick up Semi Ojeleye's $1.75 million team option for 2020-21 and whether to re-sign Brad Wanamaker in free agency.

NBA training camps are set to open Dec. 1 with a projected Dec. 22 start date for the 2020-21 regular season, so the moves should come fast and furious in this shortened offseason.

Case in point: The Lakers and Thunder have already agreed to a trade that will send Oklahoma City guard Dennis Schroder to Los Angeles, per reports.
