Tatum becomes first Celtic ever to accomplish this impressive feat

Jayson Tatum's spectacular 2022-23 regular season stands alone in Boston Celtics history.

On Sunday, Tatum officially became the first Celtics player ever to average 30-plus points per game in a season. The 25-year-old finished the campaign with 30.1 PPG, easily topping his career-high of 26.9 set last year.

The great Larry Bird held Boston's previous single-season points per game record with 29.9 in 1988. Tatum reacted to his achievement on Twitter.

Tatum totaled 2,225 points this season, marking the fifth-most in C's history. He also set a franchise record for the most 30-point games in a season with 42.

In addition to his scoring, Tatum has made noticeable strides in other areas of his game. The four-time All-Star averaged career-highs in rebounds (8.8) and assists (4.6) per game. He is the first NBA player ever to average 30+ PPG, 8+ RPG, and 3+ 3-pointers made in a season.
