Coach Ime Udoka gives an update the day after Jaylen Brown left the game early with an ankle sprain vs. the Atlanta Hawks.
The Boston Celtics can't afford to be without Jaylen Brown for a long stretch, and it sounds like they don't plan on it.
Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens admitted Thursday he overestimated the severity of the right ankle sprain Brown suffered in Tuesday's win over the Atlanta Hawks.
"I think he’s doing better than I originally thought when I saw him go down," Stevens said on 98.5 The Sports Hub's "Toucher & Rich" show. "He’s going to be constantly reevaluated over the next couple days … but it doesn't look like a long-term thing."

Forsberg: Keys to Celtics sustaining success without Jaylen Brown
Stevens' encouraging update comes after head coach Ime Udoka called Brown's injury a "day-to-day thing." While Brown has already been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, it doesn't look like he'll miss extended time, which certainly is good news given how the injury looked when Brown exited Tuesday's contest.
Brown is putting up 23.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the C's this season and has been excellent of late, averaging 26.3 points over his last five contests.
Boston has a difficult upcoming schedule highlighted by a showdown with Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets this Sunday, so the team is hoping his absence doesn't stretch much further than a game or two.
