Jaylen Brown has been sensational for the Boston Celtics lately, and his efforts were recognized by the league on Monday.
Brown was named the NBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his four-year career. The 23-year-old averaged 27 points on 62.2 percent shooting in three games from Dec. 23-29. He's the first C's player to earn Player of the Week honors since Isaiah Thomas in 2017.

Brown received some congratulatory messages from teammates like Enes Kanter, but ex-teammate Thomas took a different route. The former Celtics star jokingly took credit for Brown's improved play.
It's far from the first time I.T. has roasted Brown, or vice versa. After the two faced off on the court in November, Brown hilariously said of Thomas, "Maybe his braids was too tight and he thought he could guard me." That comment came not long after Thomas congratulated Brown on his contract extension while referring to him as his "ugly ass friend."
Obviously, the two have maintained a close relationship since Thomas was traded from the C's in 2017.

Brown will look to stay hot when he returns from his illness, which will keep him out of Tuesday night's game vs. the Charlotte Hornets.
