While the parent club in Boston has won eight straight games entering play Tuesday, one of the team's minor leaguers in Maine parlayed his historic play over the past week into some recognition of his own.

Maine Celtics guard Chris Clemons, who became the first player in the 13-year history of the franchise to record a triple-double in back-to-back games, was named the G League Player of the Week after averaging 28.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 12 assists over two games for the C's.
Clemons, 24, has been with Maine since October -- save for a stint with the Atlanta Hawks on a 10-day contract in January, after which he returned to the Celtics. He didn't see any game time for the Hawks.
For the season, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound Clemons is averaging 19.9 points on 42 percent shooting (40.7 from 3-point range), 5.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists over 13 games for Maine (7-7). He was the first C's player to earn G League Player of the Week honors this season and first to record a triple-double since 2019.

Clemons has 33 games of NBA experience to date, all with the Houston Rockets in 2019-20 after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Campbell University. He averaged 4.9 points per game for the Rockets on 40.1 percent shooting (34.6 percent from 3) but was waived prior to the start of the 2020-21 season after tearing his Achilles in a preseason contest.
