Celtics will reassess Jaylen Brown's hamstring injury in a week

Celtics coach Brad Stevens had a long list of injuries to go over as he met the media before his "eight, nine guys" took on the Cavaliers in Cleveland on Wednesday night.

The most significant of the aches and pains might be Jaylen Brown's hamstring. Stevens said Brown, who left the Celtics' ugly 129-120 overtime loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night late in the game, will be out at least a week.

The Grade 1 strain of the hamstring is the same injury Brown had in the playoffs two years ago.

With that injury, Brown was injured in Game 7 of the first-round series with the Milwaukee Bucks, missed Game 1 of the next series against the Philadelphia 76ers, but returned for Game 2, saying  “I’m basically trying to come back in two days from a two-week type injury.”

With an eye toward this postseason, expect the C's to be cautious with Brown's injury this time around.

While Jayson Tatum (illness) will return for Boston on Tuesday night, they'll be without Kemba Walker, who returned from his knee injury for the Nets game Tuesday night and played 23 minutes but his playing time continues to be limited as he recovers. Gordon Hayward (knee) is day-to-day. While not injured, Marcus Smart is in the lineup Wednesday and appears to have avoided - at least for now - a suspension for his tirade against the officials after the game Tuesday.

The Celtics host the Utah Jazz on Friday and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday before traveling to Indiana on Tuesday and have a back-to-back at Milwaukee and home against Washington next Thursday and Friday.
