Celtics Talk Podcast: Could Alec Burks be a Celtics trade target?

The 2020 NBA trade deadline is rapidly approaching. And with less than 24 hours separating teams from the deadline, it's becoming clearer which players might be on the move.

The Golden State Warriors are one team that looks poised to sell, and Alec Burks could be a player that the Warriors look to deal.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Burks is sitting out tonight's Nets-Warriors game as they mull trade offers for Burks.

Burks is enjoying a career year with the Warriors and is averaging 16.1 points per game and is shooting 37.5 percent from beyond the arc. Considering that he's making just $2.3 million this season, teams will certainly be interested in his services as he could be a playmaker off the bench.

Could the Boston Celtics be among the interested parties? Burks' name was brought up on the latest episode of the Celtics Talk Podcast as a player that the C's could target.

Celtics' issue in Game 1 loss to Knicks was quality, not quantity

Celtics' 3-point shooting slumps won't fly against Knicks

Chris Forsberg seemed to think that Burks would be a sensible add if the Celtics can get him for a second-round pick.

That is the sort of move that, to me, makes sense. He's got some size, 6-6, he's not a 6-foot guard that's going to be taken advantage of.

Kyle Draper echoed Forsberg's sentiment and said that he'd take on Burks "in a heartbeat".

I like Alec Burks. He had some great years, I thought, in Utah. I'd do that in a heartbeat. If we can get him for a second-rounder, I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the Celtics will have the opportunity to do that. Burks was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers along with Glenn Robinson III, according to Stadium's Shams Charania.

So, Burks will be a rival instead of a Celtic. But perhaps they'll pursue another trade target on Thursday.
