Tom Giles is joined by Joey Alfieri from NBC Sports Edge to discuss the Bruins’ favorable odds in their first-round series against the Washington Capitals.
Whether you’re a townie or live in the New England area, the fans of the Bruins are one of the more devoted and passionate fanbases in the NHL. The Original Six franchise has brought six Stanley Cups back to Boston, giving their supporters plenty to cheer about.
They might have their crazy accents, but those who bow down to the Spoked B do so endlessly. Here are some of the more famous Boston Bruins fans.
Dropkick Murphys

Would it really be a Boston celebrity story without talking about the kings of Celtic punk? The Quincy-based band performed “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” at Fenway Park before the 2010 Winter Classic between the Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers. The band’s song “Time To Go,” from their 2003 album, “Blackout,” pays homage to the Bruins.
Their music is heard at the TD Garden constantly, if not during Bruins games, then at one of the many concerts the group has performed there. Let’s face it, Boston sports wouldn’t quite be the same without the Dropkick Murphys and their tunes.
John Krasinski
Better known as Jim Halpert from the comedy TV show “The Office,” Krasinski has been known to frequent the Boston sports scene. Raised in Newton, Mass., the actor went to battle for the Bruins during the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals, going toe-to-toe with his Office co-star, on-camera wife and Blues fan Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beasley in the show.
Bill Burr
The actor and comedian grew up in Canton and is an avid Boston sports fan. Burr got the chance to be a celebrity blogger for NHL.com in 2009, writing a number of different posts about the Bruins. The creator of the Netflix animated series “F Is for Family” and actor in Disney’s “The Mandalorian” poked some fun at the Bruins-Montreal Canadians rivalry when promoting his shows in Montreal in 2020.
Denis Leary
A native of Worcester, Massachusetts, Leary has been a fan of the Bruins for years. From helping Cam Neely organize Comics Come Home for over 25 years, to hyping up Bruins fans for the 2019 Stanley Cup run, the actor and stand-up comic has showcased the Black and Gold better than almost anyone. Leary is also the current narrator of the Bruins’ web series “Behind the B,” where fans get an inside look at the team and its players.
Conor McGregor
It’s not too often the MMA and hockey world collide, but it did in 2019 when McGregor paid a visit to the Bruins. The Irishman is the UFC former lightweight and featherweight double-champion and brought the luck of the Irish to the Bruins matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets after getting to fire the team up before the game.
An Irish fighter and Boston is a match made in heaven, so the collaboration between these two should have been no surprise.
