Tom Brady as Bruins' banner captain would fuel Zdeno Chara ‘bromance,' David Krejci says

BOSTON -- Zdeno Chara's efforts to get Tom Brady to a Boston Bruins game have been futile so far.

But with a maximum of three home games left in the Bruins' postseason, would the New England Patriots quarterback consider being the Bruins' banner captain at the Stanley Cup Final, either for Wednesday's Game 2 at TD Garden or further down the line.

The Bruins' players don't have the answer. But veteran David Krecji would love to see Brady in attendance if only for the joy it would bring Chara, who's become fast friends with Brady on social media.

"I think that would get Z going, for sure. It looks like they've got a little bromance going," Krejci said Wednesday at the Bruins' optional morning skate before Game 2.

Having Brady follow the 2011 Bruins as Wednesday's banner captain seems like a long shot: According to his Instagram, Brady was on a sandy beach far away from Boston as of Tuesday.

But perhaps enough prodding from Krejci and the Bruins would convince Brady to join the party for Game 5 or Game 7, if either are necessary.

"Obviously he's huge in Boston sports," Krejci said. "He's showing his support to our team, so I don't know who's going to be the flag guy tonight, but it'd definitely be pretty cool seeing him waving that flag."

"Yeah, I think it would get everyone going," forward Marcus Johansson added. "I think most athletes have a lot of respect for a guy like that, so I think everyone would be pretty fired up if we saw him there."

We can only imagine the Instagram exchange between Brady and Chara if the 41-year-old QB actually does make a cameo at TD Garden.
