Bergeron signed a one-year, $5 million AAV contract with the Bruins on August 8, 2022. The deal includes a salary cap hit of $2.5 million and a $2.5 million performance bonus under the condition that Bergeron plays in 10 games during the 2022-23 season.
Bergeron signed the deal with the Bruins at 37 years old and can become an unrestricted free agent following the 2022-23 season, when he'll be 38.

Patrice Bergeron's amateur and minor league career
Bergeron did not play college hockey in the United States. Instead, he joined Boston as an 18-year-old and only spent time with the minor-league Providence Bruins during the 2004-05 NHL lockout.
Prior to being drafted by the Bruins, Bergeron played for Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for two seasons. In 2002-03, he averaged more than a point per game with 73 points (23 goals and 50 assists) over 70 contests.
Patrice Bergeron's international career
Bergeron won a gold medal with Canada at the 2005 World Junior Championship, leading the tournament in scoring with five goals and eight assists for 13 points. He has won two gold medals with Canada at the Olympics, in 2010 and 2014. He also won gold with Canada at the World Cup of Hockey in 2016.
