NBC Sports' lead NHL play-by-play voice Mike "Doc" Emrick announced his retirement Monday after a legendary career.
Emrick's 47-year career includes several notable achievements. He became the first broadcaster inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011. It's one of seven Hall of Fames that Emrick is honored in, and he's also won eight Sports Emmy Awards throughout his career.

Many fans will remember Emrick for his memorable calls during NHL and Olympic games. He worked 22 Stanley Cup Final series, including the last 15 for NBC.
For an entire generation of Boston Bruins fans, the last 15 or so years has been a very exciting time full of historic playoff games, three Stanley Cup Final series and one championship.

Emrick was on the call for many of those moments, including when the Bruins ended a 39-year title drought by defeating the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.
Another memorable Bruins moment with Emrick on the call was Nathan Horton's series-clinching goal in Game 7 of the 2011 first round series versus the rival Montreal Canadiens.
Hockey will not sound the same without Emrick. He will be missed greatly, but his awesome moments will live on.
