Some hockey teams get bit by the injury bug. For the Bruins, it's turning out to be a swarm.
Kevan Miller is the latest victim, forced out of Monday night's game in Toronto after being struck in the throat by a puck late in the first period. He was taken to a local hospital for observation, but Bruce Cassidy gave an encouraging update after the Bruins' 4-2 loss to the Leafs.
"Right now it doesn't look serious, which is great news for Kevan and his family," said Cassidy on the NESN postgame show. "They'll keep him overnight and hopefully tomorrow his breathing will be back to normal and he can come back and join us. Obviously we wish him well and hope there's no further damage."
Miller is the latest blueliner to suffer an injury, joining Zdeno Chara (MCL), Charlie McAvoy (concussion), Brandon Carlo (upper body) and Urho Vaakanainen (concussion). The forwards haven't been immune either, with Patrice Bergeron (rib/sternoclavicular injury) also out for a few more weeks.
