Cassidy throws his support behind Red Sox

As the Red Sox close in on a fourth championship in the last 15 seasons, the Boston sports brotherhood is throwing its support behind them.

Julian Edelman said he hated the Dodgers

Brad Stevens said everything about the Sox "just screamed champion."

Now it's Bruce Cassidy stating his support for the Sox before Thursday night's B's game against the Flyers. Cassidy, who attended Game 2 with his son Cole, said his hatred for the Dodgers runs deep.

"Being an old Reds fan, I hate them," Cassidy said. "I hope the Red Sox stick it to them."

Cassidy also expressed his appreciation for his Red Sox counterpart Alex Cora, who has led Boston to within two wins of a championship in his debut season.

"Alex has done a terrific job," Cassidy said. "It seems like every move he makes has worked out, so good for him. That's probably why they're up 2-0."

And if the Red Sox don't find a way to close out the Dodgers in four games, maybe the Boston brass should figure out a way to fly Cassidy out to Los Angeles for a certain lefty's next start.

"I think I'm David Price's good-luck charm," said Cassidy about the suddenly hot starter who has a 1.50 ERA over his last two outings. "That’s two games I’ve seen him pitch and he’s been very good. I’m happy for him; it’s been a tough go for him at times. “He was lights out and so was their bullpen. They look good.”
