Verducci: Dombrowski, Red Sox ‘all in' on Price

The Boston Red Sox are "all in" on free agent starting pitcher David Price, according to Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci.

"I believe David Price is going to Boston. Dave Dombrowski is all in,” Verducci said Monday afternoon on MLB Network.

Dombrowski hinted in August that pitching was the team's "primary focus," and he stuck to his word by trading a number of top prospects for closer Craig Kimbrel.

But the Red Sox are still desperately in need of a starter, and Price fits the profile of a power pitching ace.

Price, 30, is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, with an 18-5 record in 32 starts, and a 2.45 ERA.

Price could sign a deal well over $210 million, similar to what Max Scherzer received last winter.
