Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday, the team announced, and is expected to be ready for spring training.
Pedroia, 33, had what the team called a "partial medial meniscectomy and chondroplasty," i.e. a repair of a torn meniscus, performed by team orthopedist Dr. Peter Asnis at Mass General Hospital.
The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham reported that Pedroia sustained the knee injury in a game in Toronto in September.
Pedroia hit .318 with 15 homers, 74 RBI and an OPS of .825 in 154 regular-season games. After hitting .406 in August, he dropped to .294 in September.
He was 2-for-14 in the ALDS against the Indians, which Cleveland swept in three games.
