Bobi Klintman (left calf contusion/strain) has been “progressing” but still doesn’t have a timetable for his return.
The rookie had some solid moments during Summer League, but he hasn’t been available to make his debut yet because of this injury. When he returns, it is unclear if he’ll have a spot in the rotation, and if he does, it won’t be large enough to impact fantasy basketball.

Bobi Klintman (left calf contusion/strain) has not done any full-contact work in practice.
Klintman suffered the injury early in preseason and did not play in any of the Pistons’ exhibition games. The rookie still being limited doesn’t bode well for his availability for Detroit’s regular season opener on October 23 against the Pacers. But even if Klintman were a full go, it’s unlikely he would get the minutes needed to impact fantasy basketball.

Bobi Klintman shot 4-of-8 from three in Monday’s win over Houston, finishing with 18 points (7-of-13 FGs), nine rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 32 minutes.
After hitting three 3-pointers in his summer debut on Saturday, Klintman was even better on Monday. The second-round pick hit four triples and was also a factor on the boards, leading the Pistons with nine rebounds. Through two summer league games, Klintman has proven to be the jump-shooting big the previous Pistons regime hoped to make Isaiah Stewart. If the Pistons were to move one of their big men via trade, Klintman could have considerable fantasy value as a rookie.

Bobi Klintman finished Saturday’s loss to Philadelphia with 13 points (5-of-10 FGs), five rebounds, five assists, one steal, and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes.
The Pistons have a bit of a logjam in the frontcourt with young big men, but Klintman is a player who fantasy managers should not sleep on. He possesses the perimeter shooting ability the previous Pistons regime hoped to get out of Isaiah Stewart. With Beef Stew and Jalen Duren under contract and Paul Reed in the equation, the rookie may need one of those veterans to be traded to reach his full fantasy potential next season.

The Timberwolves selected Bobi Klintman with the No. 37 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
A native of Sweden, the 6-foot-9 Klintman spent one season at Wake Forest before making the switch to Australia’s NBL. Playing for the Cairns Taipans, he averaged 9.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 23 appearances. Klintman is an excellent athlete who can attack defenses off the dribble, but there’s room for growth as a playmaker and finisher in traffic. He also has the physical tools needed to be an impactful defender, with Klintman being best at attacking passing lanes at this stage in his career. While selected by the Timberwolves, Bobi is headed to Detroit via trade. And this likely gives him a better chance of achieving some fantasy relevance as a rookie, as the Pistons are in the midst of an extensive rebuild.

Wake Forest freshman Bobi Klintman has withdrawn from the 2023 NBA Draft, Shams Charania reports.
According to Charania, Klintman will “pursue alternative routes to the NBA, both domestic and abroad.” This means we could see him playing for the G League Ignite or hooping for a team overseas over the next season. He’s expected to be a lottery pick in the 2024 Draft.
