Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans Prediction: Odds, Best Bets, Player News, Injuries, and Stats for Week 15

Dolphins reportedly will release WR Beckham
Mike Florio and Rodney Harrison react to the Dolphins reportedly releasing WR Odell Beckham Jr. and if there is a spot for him on a contender for the rest of the season.

Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans Preview:

The 6-7 Miami Dolphins have a chance to edge closer to the playoffs with a win this Sunday against the 8-5 Houston Texans. As it stands, the Dolphins have a 16% chance of making the playoffs. With a win, their chances significantly improve to 32%. However, they will be looking at a 5% chance to make it if they lose this weekend.

Luckily for the Dolphins, they are surging at the right time. They are 4-1 in their last five games, and their lone loss was at the hands of the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving.
Tyreek Hill finally broke out of his slump with a 10-catch and 115-yard performance in their overtime win against the New York Jets. Hill had not eclipsed the 100-yard mark since Week 1.

The AFC South-leading Houston Texans control their own destiny. NFL.com currently has them with a 96% chance to make the postseason. With a win, they move to 99%. With the Colts, Jaguars, and Titans all under .500, the path is clear for the Texans closing the season. Win more games than you lose, and it’s nearly impossible for you to miss out on the postseason.

However, going 3-3 in their last six games, that mission is easier said than done. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans has not shown concern about how they have been playing. The Texans must lean on CJ Stroud and finish the season strong, and that starts with them hosting the Dolphins as 2.5-favorites.

NBC Sports Bet Best Bets:

NBC Sports analyst Brad Thomas (@MrBradThomas) is leaning toward the under on De’Von Achane Under 50.5 rushing yards as the best bet...

Thomas: “De’Von Achane is up against a top-10 rushing defense, and honestly, the Dolphins have struggled to run the ball all season. They average just 105.2 rush yards per game. They ran the ball for 44 yards in their last game, averaging just 49 in their previous three.

It’s been no surprise that Mike McDaniel will not force the ball into the teeth of the opposition’s defense if they aren’t getting the push from the offensive line. Getting the ball in Achane’s hands has been done through the air when the ground game isn’t working.

Achane has only cleared this number against the NFL’s bad rush defenses (5/13). Given how few attempts he will get, I don’t think his yards per carry is high enough for him to reach this number.”
