A couple times a week I place wagers on SEC basketball games. The SEC is known as a football conference, but there has always been great hoops in the conference as well. Let’s start off our SEC basketball betting season with a win.
UAB Blazers vs. South Carolina Gamecocks (+2.5) Total: 144.5
The Gamecocks host the UAB Blazers in their second home game of the young season. South Carolina is 2-1 on the Money Line and 1-2 ATS so far this season. All three of their games have cashed to the Under. Junior guard Jermaine Cousinard leads the Gamecocks in scoring with 15 points per game. Most experts have picked the Gamecocks to finish toward the bottom of the SEC this season.
The UAB Blazers have won all three of their early games in impressive fashion. They won their first three by an average of 25 points. UAB is 2-0 ATS to start the season they laid double-digits in both wins. Blazers’ head coach Andy Kennedy is an impressive 21-6 on the Money Line and 17-9-1 ATS as he enters his second season as the team’s coach.
PointsBet opened up tonight’s game with the Blazers as 1.5-point road favorites. That number has since moved up a full point to 2.5. Normally I would look to fade a short road favorite, but the Gamecocks are not a good team. They are especially bad against the spread. Under Coach Martin, South Carolina is 58-66-2 (46%) ATS at home. When they are home underdogs their ATS record is 13-19-1 (40%). The Gamecocks are on a four-game home ATS losing streak.
Edge: Blazers -2.5
