The Chiefs worked out free agent TE Ben Patrick Tuesday.
Patrick ended a brief retirement earlier this month. A competent blocker who also has 45 catches in 42 career games, Patrick could be a nice addition for the Chiefs if he can pass his physical. He has been injury prone since entering the league in 2007, however.
  • FA Tight End
Reinstated by the NFL this week, TE Ben Patrick has officially ended his brief retirement.
The 27-year-old’s sudden retirement early in training camp was to take care of “some personal issues and family issues.” The Giants have released Patrick’s rights. He admits he’ll be “kind of starting over” while waiting for a team to call. As long as he’s in shape, Patrick should get an opportunity as an injury fill-in this season.
  • ARI Tight End
Troy Bienemann, an undrafted player who graduated in 2006, has been running with the first-team offense at Cardinals practice.
Bienemann tore his ACL in his final college game, then tore it again in Saints camp last year. With rookie Ben Patrick hurt, Bieneman has been in the first-team offense with Leonard Pope and impressed. He may make the team, but the Cardinals TEs remain hands-off in fantasy leagues.
  • ARI Tight End
The Cardinals are expected to sign free agent TE Tim Euhus soon.
Euhus has a brief history with the current Cardinals coaching staff, having spent time on the Steelers’ roster in 2006. Arizona is likely looking for another camp body to fill in for Ben Patrick, who remains out with a hamstring pull.
  • FA Tight End #88
Leonard Pope and Troy Bienemann were the Cardinals’ starters in a two-tight end set during the team’s workout Wednesday.
Rookie Ben Patrick (hamstring) has missed roughly 20 practices. The Cards are expected to explore the waiver wire after June 1 for a veteran tight end to pair with Pope. Stephen Alexander is one name that could be available.
  • FA Tight End
Cardinals signed seventh-round TE Ben Patrick to a three-year contract.
The D-IAA Delaware alum is a decent athlete with good hands and blocking ability. If he can shake a nagging hamstring pull in time for training camp, Patrick should be able to pass Troy Bienemann to be Leonard Pope’s top backup. The Cards are too thin at tight end for Patrick not to make the team.
  • FA Tight End
Cardinals signed TE Ben Patrick to their practice squad.
Patrick, the team’s seventh-round pick, was expected to make the Cardinals, but was cut to make room for waiver addition WR Jehreme Urban.
  • FA Tight End
Cardinals rookie TE Ben Patrick (hamstring) isn’t expected to participate in any of the team’s upcoming OTAs.
Arizona signed Steelers castoff Tim Euhus to pick up reps along with starter Leonard Pope and Troy Bienemann. Patrick remains sidelined indefinitely.
  • FA Tight End
    Cardinals waived TE Ben Patrick.
Arizona’s seventh-round pick out of Division 1-AA Delaware, Patrick was expected to make the team, but instead becomes one of five Cardinals draft picks to get cut. He could end up on the practice squad.
  • FA Tight End
Cardinals signed TE Ben Patrick from their practice squad and released OL Brad Badger.
That the Cards are letting Badger go may be good news for LT Mike Gandy’s chances of playing this week. Patrick becomes Arizona’s fourth tight end.
