Why Warriors' Steph Curry isn't playing NBA 2K right now during hiatus

With the NBA season on hold during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it seems like every player has resorted to virtual basketball. That is, except for Steph Curry.

While the video game NBA 2K has been the fix for fans and players alike right now, it has been years since the Warriors superstar got on the sticks. And that's not going to change anytime soon.

"I ain't seen a video game controller since I had kids, so that's a little different," Curry told Trevor Noah of "The Daily Show" when asked Monday night if he has just been playing 2K to pass the time. "I can't resort back to that."

Curry and his wife, Ayesha, first had children with the birth of their daughter, Riley, in July of 2012, so it has been nearly eight years or more since he last played video games. Ayesha since has given birth to another daughter, Ryan (4), and a son, Canon (1).

The three-time champion said he mostly has been working out in his indoor gym and running on his stationary bike to stay healthy. He doesn't have a basketball court at his house like some other NBA stars, but he did assemble a hoop to keep his shot sharp during this hiatus.

“I got overwhelmed looking at the manual,” Curry said to the Wall Street Journal's Ben Cohen.

As he dealt with a broken hand and late-season illness, Curry was limited to only five games before the season was put on hold. He has to be itching for basketball right now -- like the rest of his teammates -- though that doesn't mean he will turn to video games.

Curry might have been a hooper on 2K back in his Davidson days or earlier in his NBA career, but for the time being, those days are in the past.
