Why LeBron names Steph as NBA star he wants to pair with

Across his 19 seasons in the NBA, LeBron James has played alongside some of the best talents the game of basketball has to offer.

He’s won four NBA titles with three different franchises while teaming up with fellow stars like Chris Bosh, Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving and Dwyane Wade.

As the final chapters of his Hall of Fame career continue to be written, there’s one NBA player who LeBron still wants to play alongside. And he’s willing to put aside an old rivalry to do so.

“Steph Curry is the one I want to play with, for sure, in today’s game,” LeBron said on the latest episode of “The Shop,” which officially drops on Friday.

In terms of all-time players he’d like to suit up with, LeBron chose Scottie Pippen and Penny Hardaway because he sees himself in their skill sets. He also gave his reasoning as to why Steph is his choice among active players.

“[He’s] lethal, man. When he gets out his car, you better guard him right from the moment he pulls up to the arena,” LeBron said. “Soon as he gets out of his car, you better guard his ass. You might want to guard him when he gets out of bed. Swear to God.”

Why rediscovering beautiful offense is priority No. 1 for Warriors

Steph expects ‘Game 7' vibe in crucial Warriors-Clippers season finale

Steph and LeBron have been dueling for much of the last decade on opposite contending teams. The two superstars clashed in four straight NBA Finals from 2015-18 when LeBron was with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Steph and the Warriors edged LeBron's Cavs in three of the four bouts.

But LeBron has put their respect-filled rivalry behind him in the past and backed up his recent comments with action. King James has selected Steph with his second pick in back-to-back NBA All-Star Game drafts after choosing Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo first in both.

Steph was more than worthy of his selection in the 2022 All-Star Game, as he shattered the annual showcase’s record by draining 16 3-pointers and pouring in 50 points. He earned his first career NBA All-Star Game Kobe Bryant MVP award for his efforts.

Who wouldn’t want to pair up with Steph?
