Difference in Warriors' three-game win streak to last season

0:00

After the Warriors 119-107 win over the Kings, Steph Curry went into detail about the Warriors strong start this year and how Steve Kerr’s, “chasing wins,” comment will continue to follow him around this season.

The Warriors' start to their season is much, much different than last year. How different?

Here's a stat for you: The Warriors didn't earn their first three-game win streak last season until Feb. 26 -- the 34th game of the season. This season, it took all of three games for Golden State to do so. With their 119-107 win over the Kings on Sunday night, the Warriors now are 3-0 to start the 2021-22 season.

The biggest different between their last two campaigns might just be three words: Strength in numbers.

It's no surprise that Steph Curry led the way in the win with 27 points but he was far from the only contributor. Including Curry, six total Warriors scored in double figures against the Kings.

In the Warriors' third game of last season, their first win, five Warriors scored in double figures. However, it looked much different. When the Warriors beat the Chicago Bulls last season, 129-128, Eric Paschall scored 15 points but had a minus-13 plus-minus. Jordan Poole had a minus-10 plus-minus despite scoring 10 points. Curry (36 points) and Andrew Wiggins (19 points) were the Warriors' top-two scorers in that win. They had a plus-3 and plus-2 plus-minus respectively.

Sunday night in Sacramento, Curry was plus-14 and Wiggins was plus-18 while scoring 17 points.

Every Warrior who scored in double figures finished on the positive side of their plus-minus. Their only player who was on the negative side was starting center Kevon Looney, who was a minus-6 while scoring eight points and grabbing four rebounds.

Butler claims joining Steph, Draymond on Dubs everything he dreamt of

Steve Kerr's squad this time around is much smarter and more veteran-heavy. Poole was the youngest Warrior to play by a long shot at Golden 1 Center on Sunday night, and he's night and day as a player compared to last year. He scored 22 points and finished with a plus-4 in plus-minus against the Kings.

The Warriors reeled off seven two-game win streaks before finally being able to celebrate a three-game win streak last February. You never knew what kind of team would show up on any given night for the Warriors last year. Not this season.

From the fans to the players on the floor, it's expected for the Warriors to win. Just how far they can go is anyone's guess. Right now, though, they look to have the right keys to contention.
