Steph voted NBA's third-best pure scorer by league insiders

If you need a guy who can go out and find a way to put up points regardless of the situation, there aren't many players better equipped than Warriors star Steph Curry.

Curry is the league's fourth-leading scorer at the All-Star break, putting up 29.7 points per game. Steph also paces all NBA players with 169 3-pointers so far this season, 23 more than the next closest player.

The Athletic polled a panel of 30 NBA insiders, including coaches, executives, scouts and former players on who the league's most pure scorer is, and Steph came in third place.

Former Warrior Kevin Durant finished far and away No. 1 on the list, garnering 20 first-place votes out of a possible 30, and a total of 246 points. His teammate and former Warriors nemesis James Harden came in second with 166 total points, including four first-place votes.

Steph got three first-place votes for a total of 114 points, with fellow star point guards Damian Lillard and Kyrie Irving rounding out the top five.

It's hard to argue with the top three, as Durant, Harden and Steph all present tremendous challenges for any defense. Just a few short years ago, we saw how potent the combination of Curry and KD in the same offense was, and after a trade early in the season, the league has gotten a glimpse at how dominant a tandem Harden and Durant have been with the Brooklyn Nets.

The good news for NBA fans, is four of the top five will be in action on Sunday night in the NBA All-Star Game from Atlanta, with Durant the lone exception as he deals with a hamstring strain.
