Warriors sign Boston College guard Ky Bowman to two-way contract

Boston College guard Ky Bowman wasn't selected in the 2019 NBA Draft last week, but the Warriors -- who made two second-round picks -- were able to sign him to a two-way contract.

Earlier this week, Warriors assistant general manager Larry Harris explained on KNBR why the team is so high on the 22-year-old North Carolina native.

"We interviewed him in Chicago when the combine was taking place, and he really warmed our hearts," Harris said. "And when the fans get a chance to meet him and hear him speak and tell his story, you can't help but cheer for the guy.

"He's everything for his family. He's the breadwinner. He's had some tragedy leading up [to the draft] and in college as well. Not only is he a tremendous kid, but he's a really good basketball player that's got a lot of room to grow.

"I don't know if we just fought the Clippers [to sign him]. I think there were a couple other teams involved. He's a ball of energy, and he's different than anybody else that we have at that position. This guy is a tough, tenacious, 'Patrick Beverley get-in-your-face-type guy.' "

As a junior, Bowman averaged 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He shot over 37 percent from beyond the arc and played an insane 39.4 minutes per game.

Bowman is just 6-foot-1 but has a 6-foot-7 wingspan. Warriors fans will have a chance to see him in summer league in Sacramento and Las Vegas.

"He'll do whatever it takes ... there's nothing that he's afraid of," Harris added. "The things that he's seen in his life most people will never see in their lifetime.

"We were very fortunate to get him on a two-way, and a guy we think is gonna come up and play some minutes for us throughout the year."

The Dubs have one other two-way contract at their disposal.
