Warriors legend with Knicks ties wants Kevin Durant to stay with Golden State

The Warriors drafted Tim Hardaway with the 14th overall pick in the 1989 draft.

He was an All-Star in 1991, 1992 and 1993 -- averaging 22.7 points, 10.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game over that span.

His son -- Tim Hardaway Jr. -- plays for the New York Knicks, a team that reportedly has a legitimate shot at signing Kevin Durant next summer.

Does the former Warriors point guard have any intel on what will happen in July?

"I'm not gonna say nothing," Hardaway said while laughing on 95.7 The Game on Tuesday morning. "I'm just gonna leave that alone. I'm not saying yes, I'm not saying no.

"Personally, I would rather see KD stay there and don't even talk about leaving. And just have a dynasty forever, just like the Boston Celtics did. Just liked the Los Angeles Lakers tried to do in the 80s.

"Why not just have a dynasty and play free-wheeling and have fun until you all can't do it no more? ... Ya'll (would) go down in history as one of the best teams in the history of NBA basketball."

If the Warriors do end up winning the title again, not only would they unquestionably be considered a dynasty, they would then have the opportunity to win a fourth straight championship -- something only Bill Russell's Celtics have accomplished in league history.

Interestingly, the Knicks may need to trade Hardaway Jr. (which will be very difficult because of his bloated contract) in order to free up the necessary cap space to add Durant at his maximum salary.

And in case you are curious -- the Warriors play at the Knicks next Friday and host New York on Jan. 8.
