Kerr provides injury update for Warriors' game vs. Kings

The Warriors’ collective mood one one sequence in the fourth quarter in San Antonio when from elated to concerns in a matter of seconds.

The Warriors somehow someway managed to pull off a thrilling win Tuesday night with a barebones squad.

Beating the San Antonio Spurs 124-120 at AT&T Center, Golden State erased a 17-point deficit in order to claim victory with a squad that was without Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins.

With just over six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, forward/guard Gary Payton II appeared to have injured himself going after a ball out of bounds. Coach Steve Kerr said after the game that Payton hit his shin on a railing. Kerr joined 95.7 The Game's Damon & Ratto Wednesday evening where he provided a positive update on Payton's status for Thursday's game against the Sacramento Kings.

"He banged his shin pretty hard when he went into the stands late in the game for a loose ball," Kerr said on Wednesday. "It was sore last night, I saw him today at the facility and he told me he was fine. Hopefully, that means he'll be out there tomorrow night."

All three of the star trio Curry, Thompson and Wiggins -- plus forward Otto Porter Jr. -- who were unavailable for Tuesday night's game, are expected to return to the floor against the Kings.

"Klay [Thompson] was held out just because it was a back-to-back, so he'll be fine tomorrow," Kerr added. "Steph [Curry], Otto [Porter Jr.] and [Andrew Wiggins] were all banged up but should be good to go tomorrow. I don't know about [Nemanja Bjelica], Beli is still day-to-day, he's had back spasms and they were still bothering him yesterday so we'll see."

Tuesday night's win was a testament to the depth and firepower Golden State has up and down the roster. Even with most of the starting five sitting on the sidelines, the Warriors found a way to win.

"The great part of having depth and having young players and having stars like Steph and Klay is that you can mix-and-match and still be able to win and develop guys and look at different combinations and it's a great position to be in organizationally."
