The 2022-23 NBA season is more than halfway over, but Warriors coach Steve Kerr isn't focused on playoff seeding just yet.
Kerr joined KNBR 680's "Tolbert & Copes" on Thursday to discuss Wednesday's 122-120 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, and he was asked about the Warriors' potential playoff seeding and what he needs to see from the team heading down the stretch to know that Golden State has turned a corner.
"The first part of your question about seeding, I had a picture in my mind of Jim Mora asking about the playoffs," Kerr joked. " 'Playoffs?!' Seeding?! So that's kind of where I am ... Seeding?!"
Kerr, of course, is channeling former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Mora, who famously responded to a reporter's question about his team's playoff chances with one of the most famous lines in sports history.
"Playoffs?!" a dumbfounded Mora asked in response to the question. "You're talking about playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoffs?! I just hope that we can win a game."
If the Warriors are able to claim one of the Western Conference's top seeds, let alone make the NBA playoffs, Kerr needs to see more consistency from his team.

"We got to defend without fouling," Kerr explained. "Steph [Curry] can't get two fouls in the first minute of the game. He knows that, but he did ... We've talked about fouling, doing a better job at that, we've talked about limiting turnovers. But I think it's just overall for our team, we have to capture that magic, we have to put it all together where the group is humming and you just feel the vibe.
"We're getting really good bench production now, but our starters have struggled a little bit the last couple weeks. Early in the season it was kind of the opposite. My point is, you can just tell we haven't all clicked at the same time."

If the season ended today, the Warriors would be the No. 8 seed in the conference and would have to play in the NBA's Play-In Tournament, an underwhelming fate after winning a championship less than a year ago.
Fortunately for Golden State, there are 34 games remaining, but Kerr will need to see vast improvements from his team before he even starts thinking of possible playoff scenarios.
