Sources: Wiseman suffered torn meniscus on fall vs. Rockets

With sources telling NBC Sports Bay Area that James Wiseman suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee, NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole thinks it’s time for the Warriors to consider their options for this season.

James Wiseman has suffered a torn meniscus and is "feared" to be out for the rest of the 2020-21 NBA season, NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Poole confirmed Sunday, citing league sources.

The Athletic's Shams Charania first reported the news Sunday.

Wiseman fell awkwardly in the Warriors' win over the Houston Rockets on Saturday night, eventually exiting the game and appearing to be in considerable pain. The Warriors later ruled him out for the remainder of the game with a right knee injury.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday night that Wiseman would be undergoing an MRI on Sunday.

The Warriors have confirmed that Wiseman suffered a meniscus injury, the extent of which is still being determined.

Wiseman has averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game over his rookie season and has dealt with significant adversity throughout his first NBA campaign.

Steph driven by desire over wisdom amid Warriors' final playoff push

The Warriors, already thin at the center position after Marquese Chriss' injury early in the season, now are down to just one healthy five on the roster in Kevon Looney.

For a team on the periphery of the Western Conference playoff chase, potentially losing Wiseman for the rest of the season is a major blow.
