Warriors coach Steve Kerr delivered some bad news after practice Wednesday:

"[Kevon] Looney had a little tweak of his hamstring and missed the last part of practice," Kerr told reporters. "And Alen [Smailagic] rolled his ankle, and so we cut practice short."

However, NBC Sports Bay Area's Logan Murdock reported later Wednesday that Looney's injury is minor and he is not expected to miss any time.

Golden State already is very thin in the frontcourt, as projected starting center Willie Cauley-Stein will miss all of training camp because of a left foot strain.

He is expected to be sidelined for the first handful of games as well.

Looney, meanwhile, will open the season in the starting lineup, and it's imperative he stays healthy.

"He's one of our best players," Kerr said Monday at Media Day. "He's moved up the ladder considerably with all of the losses that we've had ... he's one of the guys that has the most experience.

"I'd like to play Looney as many minutes as possible."

Kerr said the team will issue an official statement at some point Wednesday afternoon.
