The NBA Draft Lottery is mainly driven by odds -- odds that have been established based on how each team did during the regular season.
But, there's a little bit of luck involved as well. And since the odds can't change, each team's representative will do all they can to persuade that bit of luck in their direction.
For the Warriors' representative, team president and COO Rick Welts, his lucky charm will be in the form of accessories.

"I'm not superstitious, but I figured I could at least bring the 2015, 2017 and 2018 championship rings," Welts said on a Zoom call Monday morning. "I will be bringing those because, as we see in these playoffs, there is an element of luck involved."
Welts also said his outfit would be an homage to the Warriors being one of the original NBA teams.
While Welts participates in the lottery virtually from Chase Center, he's also calling on another good luck charm to give the Warriors good juju: Unofficial team mascot Rocco Thompson -- Klay Thompson's bulldog.
"We do have Rocco, don't forget," Welts said. "Rocco is the organization's good luck charm because he gets to hang out with Klay Thompson every day, which makes him the coolest dog in the world. He brings happiness wherever he goes. So, we're calling on Rocco to help here as well."

The Warriors have a 97 percent chance of securing the No. 14 pick in the draft, but if they don't get the 14th pick, they will land a top-four pick of their own. They also have an opportunity to land the Minnesota Timberwolves' top-three protected pick.

So, all of that good energy Welts will be trying to harness via Rocco and his championship rings is directed toward the ever-so-slim dream scenario.
"I'm planning on coming out of this with one and four," Welts said. "If that's the outcome, I get to keep my office for the rest of the month."
