Report: Warriors' Myers ‘not interested' in joining 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to change up a number of things following their first-round playoff loss to the Boston Celtics, but the help they are looking for won't come in the form of Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers.

Sources told Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer that the 76ers won't be going after Myers to join their front office as he has "no interest" in heading to the City of Brotherly Love.

The 76ers had interest in bringing in Myers in 2018 before they hired Elton Brand as general manager.

Following the loss to the Celtics, the 76ers fired head coach Brett Brown. Brand's job is safe, but the 76ers are looking into possibly adding a president of basketball operations to work in collaboration with Brand, Pompey reported Thursday.

While Myers won't be their guy, Pompey reports that the 76ers likely will inquire about Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey and Indiana Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard, but his sources believe it's unlikely either would join the 76ers.

If the 76ers do plan to restructure their front office and bring on a president of basketball operations, they will have to do that before they address their head-coaching vacancy.

Warriors' simplest solution to avoid spiraling at worst time

Why Marks was 'embarrassed' by Heat fans cheering Butler in return

The 76ers have two franchise building blocks in young stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, but they have been unable to get past the second round of the playoffs.

Some have speculated the 76ers could try to break up the young tandem and trade one of the stars to reboot the roster. However, conventional wisdom dictates that whoever is tabbed as the next head coach will want a stab at maximizing the duo before pushing the detonate button.

Whoever the 76ers pick to head their front office will have a tall task on their hands. But it won't be Myers, who is focused on getting the Warriors back to the top of the NBA next season.
