Report: ‘Beasts' Edwards, Wiseman impress Warriors in workouts

James Wiseman reportedly is ‘high’ on the Warriors’ list for draft workouts. Grant Liffmann has some trepidation about the 19-year-old center and whether he is the right fit for the team.

The Warriors reportedly conducted a workout with Deni Avdija on Thursday in Atlanta.

But the 6-foot-9 forward is not the only NBA draft prospect Golden State brass watched up close and personal on its trip to the East Coast.

Owner Joe Lacob, president of basketball operations Bob Myers, coach Steve Kerr and director of sports medicine and performance Rick Celebrini also saw James Wiseman and Anthony Edwards, The Athletic's Marcus Thompson reported, citing sources.

"Wiseman is as big and skilled as advertised," Thompson writes. "They also liked him when they had their conversation/interview or whatever it was.

"Edwards’ exceptional athleticism jumped out in person. He seemed to really impress the Warriors with his freakishness."

Golden State holds the rights to the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft (scheduled for Nov. 18), and recently received clearance from the NBA to travel around the country to scout prospects.

Wiseman, Edwards and LaMelo Ball are considered by the majority of draft analysts as the top-three players in this year's class.

"The guy that really stands out to me is Anthony Edwards," Brandon Payne -- Steph Curry's personal trainer -- recently said on the "WarriorsWorld" podcast. "I think Anthony Edwards is outstanding. I think he's a guy that can do a lot of good things. I think he's a guy that can score and defend from Day 1.

"So with that number two pick, if he's there, I think that's your call -- unless you're looking to make a trade."

The Warriors could end up trading down in the lottery, or out of it altogether, if they find a deal to their liking. They have a lot of options at their disposal, and a couple more weeks to figure everything out.
