Earlier Monday, Marc Stein of The New York Times reported that the Grizzlies are "adamant" they won't do a buyout with the former Warriors forward if they are unable to trade him before the deadline at noon PT on Thursday.
From the Memphis perspective: They want to get the best asset possible in exchange for Iguodala, and that won't happen if prospective bidders believe a buyout ultimately will come to fruition.
And from the 2015 NBA Finals MVP's perspective: He wants to end up on a championship contender without sacrificing any money in a buyout.
As a result, it makes perfect sense to see the gamesmanship heating up on both sides.

It really would be nuts if the Grizzlies are unable to trade Iguodala, and the 36-year-old never takes the floor this season because of the inability to agree to terms on a buyout.
That scenario seems unlikely, though.
The situation is very fluid and should be a roller coaster over the next couple of days.
