Luka, Kyrie questionable for pivotal West clash vs. Warriors

The Dallas Mavericks could be without two of their biggest stars when the Warriors visit American Airlines Center on Wednesday.

Both Luka Dončić (thigh) and Kyrie Irving (foot), along with power forward Markieff Morris (knee), currently are listed as questionable for Dallas ahead of its big Western Conference showdown with Golden State.

Dončić hasn't played since March 8, when he re-injured his left thigh in a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, and has missed the Mavericks' last five games. He was listed as questionable for Dallas' game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday but was ruled out shortly after shootaround.

Before his latest injury, Dončić was averaging 33.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.0 assists for the Mavericks. The team is 2-3 in his absence and has leaned on Irving, but the eight-time NBA All-Star aggravated his foot injury Monday night and left FedExForum in a walking boot.

It goes without saying that the absence of Dončić and Irving on Wednesday would tilt the odds in the Warriors' favor, though they aren't without their fair share of ailments. Golden State has yet to submit its injury report for the Dubs-Mavs game, but Kevon Looney has been dealing with back soreness in recent weeks, and Steph Curry was banged up on a play in the Warriors' win over the Houston Rockets on Monday night.

Wednesday's clash holds major NBA playoff implications for both teams. A win would give the No. 6-seeded Warriors the tiebreaker on the season series with the No. 7 Mavericks -- a much-needed victory as Golden State looks to avoid the play-in tournament.
