Klay still pissed, sick of disrespect after NBA 75 team snub

Klay Thompson opened up about Warriors teammate Steph Curry potentially breaking the NBA 3-point record this season and shared his hopes that the “iconic” duo will someday top the list together.

Klay Thompson can't wait to remind everyone of his greatness.

The Warriors star was surprised Thursday when he was left off the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team, and Thompson woke up Friday still irate about not being on the list of the 76 best players in the 75-year history of the NBA.

Thompson's frustration is, of course, warranted. The five-time All-Star is one of the greatest shooters in NBA history and was a key piece in arguably the greatest collection of talent the league has ever seen.

Warrior head coach Steve Kerr also was stunned that Thompson and Draymond Green were left off the list, pointing to the Warriors stars' contributions to Golden State's dynastic run.

"I definitely think both guys are top 75, just based on winning and two-way basketball and everything that really matters more than statistics and anything related to numbers," Kerr said Thursday. "What matters is if you're winning championships, and that's what counts. I would have hoped and thought that both guys would be on there."

Green was more upset about Thompson being left off the list than he was about his own snub.

"I'm more frustrated for Klay than I am for myself, there is not many people that can do what Klay does on the basketball court and with his resume," Draymond told reporters after the Warriors' 115-113 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. "It's hard to leave him off a team like that, for I'll just keep building my resume, and hopefully in 25 years, I'll be on the top 100. In the meantime, I'll just keep trying to build a great resume and hopefully, that leads to the Hall of Fame."

It's safe to say both Thompson and Green have already booked their tickets to the Hall of Fame.

Thompson has missed the past two seasons due to a torn ACL and a torn Achilles. But the sharpshooting guard is closing in on a return, and he will have even more motivation to return to the peak of his powers to remind everyone that he deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence with the other greats in NBA history.
