Just before halftime Monday night, Klay Thompson got up for a monster poster dunk on Wizards big man Kristaps Porzingis.
Klay Thompson still can throw it down on a defender's head when needed.
As the second quarter was winding down in the Warriors' 135-126 win over the Washington Wizards, a cutting Thompson got a pass from Kevon Looney and elevated up and through Kristaps Porziņģis for a monster slam, much to the delight of his Warriors teammates.
Rotating late, the 7-foot-3 Porziņģis had no chance of blocking Thompson's two-handed hammer. After the game, Thompson addressed reporters about the play in question.
"That felt great," the 33-year-old said. "Just to go up there and throw it down with no hesitation, that's a great feeling."
This is the second time in as many days that a Warriors guard slammed home a jam over a defender. On Feb. 9, Donte DiVincenzo put Portland Trail Blazers big man Drew Eubanks on a poster, coincidentally in the second quarter as well.
When asked by reporters after the Wizards game which dunk was better, DiVincenzo was confident in himself.
"It wasn't better than mine," the 6-foot-4 guard jokingly replied. "It was big to see him get up there confidently and attacking the rim is huge, not only for him but for us."
Though Golden State primarily is known as a jump-shooting team, Thompson and DiVincenzo proved that they can bust out a monster slam on occasion.
