Kevin Durant's latest shoe design fully inspired by being a '90s kid

Are you a '90s kid?

No, I'm not saying you had to be born in the '90s to appreciate the gems like "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" or the fuzzy posters Lisa Frank introduced into our lives, but you remember the timeframe. And Kevin Durant wants to take you back down memory lane with his latest shoe design.

Introducing the Nike KD 12 -- the shoe inspired by the '90s. Durant is a big fan of the era and made sure that was the theme behind the kicks.

“Kevin, we had a meeting with him,” Leo Chang, head designer, told SLAM Magazine. “He was like, ‘I’m this millennial who has this love and respect for the 90s. I want the 12 to be about that.’ Without saying it so eloquently, I had been thinking about that same thing in terms of designing the shoe.”

These shoes stretch beyond feeling like a kid again -- the feeling of comfort was essential:

"[Durant] wanted it to feel broken in."

That's where the quad-axial comes in. Don't know what that means? I didn't either, so let's learn together.

Quad-axial means "four directions."

“The idea is this upper, I really wanted to get after the sensation of broken-in-feel but still have this adaptive, on-demand kind of lockdown," Chang said. "KD, since the 1, has worn shoes forever, more than we’ve wanted him to wear a shoe.

And if you're not into the colorful aspect design of the shoe, that's fine -- there are Black/White versions as well.
