Warriors assistant Adams says Poole has one of Steph's traits

Jordan Poole drained an amazing half-court buzzer beater shot at the end of the third quarter against the Jazz. He spoke about how he practices these shots every day at practice with Steph Curry.

Jordan Poole stepped up in a big way this week.

The the No. 28 overall pick from the 2019 draft scored 20 points in less than 19 minutes against the Utah Jazz on Monday night, and followed that up with 20 points in 20 minutes against the Phoenix Suns a day later.

"Jordan has had a good breakout year," Warriors assistant coach Ron Adams said Wednesday morning on 95.7 The Game's "The Morning Roast" show. "He's kind of unflappable offensively. He's got a whole bag of tricks for a young player.

"He probably tends to do a little too much with the ball. But when he's thinking straight line drive, or a quick dribble move and drive -- he's tremendous at getting to the rim."

Adams then mentioned Steph Curry when complimenting Poole.

"But also, he has one characteristic that Steph has -- and Steph is a fantastic model for him -- he really moves," Adams said. "His cuts, his movement away from the ball.

"And he's not afraid to take a big shot. His scoring has been really important off the bench."

First of all, any time somebody says you have a skill that the two-time NBA MVP possesses, that matters. And you should feel honored.

Secondly, speaking of big shots:

But it isn't Poole's ability to knock it down from beyond the arc that has been the most impressive development in his game.

Rather, it's the way he has improved his efficiency close to the basket.

What about the other end of the court?

"He's improved defensively. He's got a ways to go and he's gotta focus a little bit more," Adams explained. "But he's coming along in that area, too."

Big picture, the future is bright for the 21-year-old combo guard.

"He's a talent. He's got a computer that's really impressive," Adams added. "I'm really pleased with watching him grow. He's a great kid."
