Lin -- who last played in the NBA during the 2018-19 season when he won a championship with the Toronto Raptors -- played for the Ducks in 2019-20.

He attempted an NBA comeback this past season by playing in the G League bubble with the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The Palo Alto High School graduate averaged 19.1 points and 6.4 assists over 11 games, while shooting 50.7 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Lin was sidelined for six games because of a back issue.

Stephen A defends Brooks, Rockets for attacking Steph's injured thumb

Brooks has blunt explanation for late-game scuffle with Spencer, TJD

"I've done what I needed to do," the 32-year-old told The New York Times' Marc Stein in mid-March. "I took on the challenge. I went to the G League when some people thought it was crazy for me to go.

"I think it's just a matter of time, and I believe it's going to happen. We'll see. I know I belong."

But the contract didn't come, and now Lin is headed back overseas.

Perhaps there is a buyout in his contract that will allow him to sign with an NBA team should an opportunity arise.

Good luck, Jeremy.
