General manager Bob Myers talked to Grant Liffmann and Dorell Wright about the upcoming NBA trade deadline and whether the Warriors will be looking to add any pieces for a playoff push.
The NBA trade deadline -- Thursday, March 25 at noon PT -- is less than a week away.
Should the Warriors seriously consider trading Andrew Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves' 2021 top-three protected first-round pick to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Pascal Siakam?
"I actually think both teams say no. But there would definitely be three-hour meetings on both sides," Bill Simmons said on the most recent episode of his podcast. "That Minnesota pick -- it's such a fascinating trade asset because it could end up being awesome. Seems like it's gonna be awesome.

"You just don't know. You're trusting the other team to be terrible and tank, even though they don't have a pick. You could argue it's better to cash that in."
If the Warriors hold on to the asset, they want Minnesota to lose every game the rest of the season. How come? This is why:
The risk is that if the pick doesn't convey this year and the T-Wolves dramatically improve next season to the point where they almost sneak into the playoffs, the Warriors could end up with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 draft.
Then again, Minnesota could be terrible again and Golden State could find itself with a top-five pick next year.

Siakam averaged 22.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.9 blocks last season, while shooting 35.9 percent from deep on 6.1 attempts per game. He became an All-Star for the first time and was named Second-Team All-NBA.
The soon-to-be 27-year-old has taken a step back this season in certain aspects, as he is averaging 19.8 points on 28.8 percent shooting from beyond the arc. But you can chalk some of that up to the unprecedented circumstances because of COVID-19. It's just been a strange year for a lot of players and a lot of teams.

As for Siakam's potential fit with the Warriors -- he is versatile enough to play some small forward at times, but primarily is a four. So the coaching staff would have to figure out how to make it work with Draymond Green and James Wiseman in the frontcourt.
"If you're Toronto, you probably keep Siakam," Simmons said. "But you'd have to be intrigued by Wiggins -- the Canadian guy and how well he's played this season compared to where he was -- and the possibility of the Minnesota pick jumpstarting your team.
"It's a fun one. I don't think it will happen."
The Warriors are scheduled to face Siakam and the Raptors (in Tampa Bay) on Friday, April 2.
