The Warriors will face the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1964.
Golden State (tied with the Chicago Bulls) and Boston (tied with the Los Angeles Lakers) are among the top four NBA teams with the most championships won.
The Celtics haven’t made a Finals appearance since 2010 when they fell to the Lakers in seven games, meanwhile, the Warriors are returning to the Finals for the sixth time in the last eight years.

However, Boston has played well against Golden State in recent matchups, winning six of its last seven games against the Warriors going back to 2019. And even historically, the Celtics have a series season 208-138 advantage over the Warriors in their all-time head-to-head record.
This season, though, the series was split with each team winning in each other’s homes.
The first matchup of the 2021-22 season between the two teams was on Dec. 17 at TD Garden in Boston.
Steph Curry finished with a game-high 30 points, adding five rebounds and four assists in the Warriors’ 111-107 win.
An aggressive Andrew Wiggins contributed 27 points of his own, shooting 11-of-20 from the field and 5-of-7 from behind the arc.
The game got within two with just under four seconds remaining, but the Dubs held on to their lead and win the game.
Three months later, the Celtics sought revenge on Warriors territory -- and they got it.
Jordan Poole exploded for a game-high 29 points, but the Warriors lost Curry early in the game and were no match for Boston.

Curry left the game after Celtics guard and Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart dove for a loose ball and injured Curry’s foot in the process that sidelined him for three weeks.

Boston’s “Big 3” of Jayson Tatum, Smart and Jaylen Brown combined for 72 points and 15 assists collectively. Tatum finished with a 26-point double-double.
Now, there’s no better way to break the season series tie than on the biggest stage in basketball. The best-of-seven series is expected to be a good one, and we’re just days away from the action.
