Whenever James Wiseman does eventually return to the court, Warriors fans should temper their expectations.
Warriors general manager Bob Myers joined 95.7 The Game's The Morning Roast on Tuesday, where he discussed what Wiseman will add to the team upon his highly-anticipated return and even admitted that his usage last season was not good for his development.
"I think if you look at what he can do that he's uniquely gifted at, which is vertical spacing, a pick-and-roll dive threat, it's rim protection, it's rebounding, it's size, it's physicality," Myers said. "And then it's up to Steve [Kerr] and his staff to simplify what they ask him to do early on. Because last year, I think we'd all raise our hand and say it was a free-for-all. It was like 'James, go do whatever you want.' That isn't good for any 19-year-old, even with [Jonathan] Kuminga. (He) could probably do a lot more than we have him do, but they put him in a lane and say 'this is what you're going to do for now.' James is the same way, eventually, he might be taking 3-point shots and doing different things, but for now, it's simple."

Wiseman will certainly provide the Warriors with a big boost whenever he does return, but expectations for the remainder of the season should be tempered, as he will likely play in a situational role depending on the matchups.
"As far as what we expect of him, it's going to be interesting because it's going to be up to Steve to see how we use him," Myers added. "Remember back in the (2018) Rockets series, we never played JaVale McGee because the (James) Harden switches were tough for him and so we played [Kevon] Looney. Then with Cleveland, they did a better job at dealing with the Looney lineup, so we played JaVale to free up and have a diver and it really opened things up. It's a little bit situational with James right now, eventually, it won't be. He'll be a constant guy ... when it starts it will be like a situational time where we throw him out there."

In addition to Wiseman, the Warriors are also hoping to have Draymond Green back sooner rather than later.
Heading into the playoffs, Golden State will likely be much healthier and primed for another NBA championship run this summer.
