Sick of seeing his team fall short in the playoffs, Morey revamped his roster in the offseason with the headliner being Paul. In doing so, Morey was doing whatever he could to field a roster able to take down the champions.
"If we're gonna win a title, we've gotta obviously beat the Warriors at some point," Morey said. "So we're extremely focused on that. A lot of our signings and what we do during the year is based on that."
On Opening Night, the Warriors blew a double-digit lead and lost to the Rockets, 122-121, after receiving their championship rings. Golden State eliminated Houston from the playoffs by beating them in the 2015 Western Conference Finals and in the first round the next year.

"Because we're pretty sure that's what's going to define our season."
