Draymond Green says new co-host Charles Barkley ‘not a friend of mine'

Warriors forward Draymond Green and NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley will be working together on TNT's new show "The Arena."

But just because they are on the same team when it comes to fighting for racial equality, does not mean they are buddy-buddy.

“He’s not a friend of mine,” Draymond told USA Today Sports' Mark Medina. “He’s not someone whose opinion matters to me. So there is not a need to hash anything out.

“This isn’t about me vs. Chuck. This is about continuing to bring awareness to the issues that we face as Black Americans. That’s what it’s about for me. Nonetheless, what moment transpires out of us being on the same set, I don’t know.

"But I think it will be good TV. That’s what matters at the end of the day. We'll all come together and put out a good product.”

Draymond and Barkley have created many headlines over the years, as they aren't afraid of taking verbal jabs at one another.

“He’s kind of known to put out some crazy statements. I don’t know if they are his true beliefs or whatever or he’s just saying stuff for reactions,” the three-time NBA champion told Medina. “We’ll see. But I’ve never worked with him so I can’t really say what it’s going to be like.”

Who knows, maybe this new experience will result in them coming together and forming a friendship. Perhaps Draymond will tell Barkley what he told former Golden State forwards Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on the "All the Smoke" podcast back in April.

"I don't have an issue with somebody critiquing my game -- critique my game all you want ... but he like to throw shots and s--t," the three-time All-Star explained months ago. "And it's like, bro, the jealousy gotta step. I'm a young black man that came up after you. You essentially paved the way.

"Appreciate the way that you paved and stop f--king hating."
