Draymond believes Poole will be good ‘for a long time'

Draymond Green said he and Andre Iguodala were talking about the potential and work ethic of Jordan Poole. “I think he’s doing an incredible job of adapting…he’s going to be really good for us as he continues to grow.”

As the Warriors make a beeline for one of the top seeds in the Western Conference, they're doing so with the help of an additional scorer not named Steph Curry or Klay Thompson.

Third-year guard Jordan Poole has had plenty of ups and downs this season but is currently scorching hot.

In the Warriors' 110-88 loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night at Chase Center, Poole led a Golden State squad, which was without Curry for most of the night due to a foot injury, with 29 points.

After the game, Draymond Green had plenty of praise for the 22-year-old, who he believes will be a good player for a long time.

"I think he's doing a great job and he still has a long way to go, which is exciting because he's very skilled and very talented," Green told reporters. "Most importantly, he works hard. I was just telling Andre [Iguodala] on the bench today, like 'that kid can be so good if he just takes the time to slow down and figure it out.' Which I think he will. The first thing Andre said was 'man, you're not lying, and the crazy thing is that he has the work ethic to go with it.'

"You run into a lot of guys in this league that don't have the work ethic to figure it out; that's the least of his worries. I think he's doing an incredible job adapting, and he's going to be really good for us as he continues to grow. He had zero turnovers tonight; that's impressive. He had the ball the whole game. He's figuring it out, he's going to be really good for a long time."

When Curry left the game in the second quarter after colliding with Celtics guard Marcus Smart, Poole took over for the Warriors, who ultimately fell victim to Boston's league-best defense.

The Warriors are hoping that they never have to rely on Poole while Curry or Thompson are on the court, but they'll be reassured to know that he's ready when the opportunity is to present itself.
