Green threaded a pass through multiple Mavericks defenders to set up longtime teammate Steph Curry for a cutting layup in the second quarter.

Green has quite a few games before he matches Johnson's mark of 15-assist performances (123, to be exact), but the 30-year-old had reason to flex Thursday night. He scored a season-high 11 points (on a season-best 3-of-5 shooting) amid renewed questions of his scoring output, and recorded just his second double-double of the season.

Perhaps the most encouraging part of Green's night was that he needed just three quarters for his best performance of the season. The veteran didn't play a second in the fourth quarter after the Warriors' second unit pulled away down the stretch.
Green started at center Thursday amid Golden State's frontcourt injury crisis, offering an encouraging glimpse of how the team can play without James Wiseman and Kevon Looney for the remainder of the road trip. The versatile 6-foot-6 won't be Magic-esque each night, but he showed he can lead the line for the Warriors in their time of need.
