Best playoff dunk since Baron? BD approves of Wiggins' poster

Midway through the fourth quarter of Game 3, Andrew Wiggins decided it was his time to make a move. The All-Star forward drove down the lane and unleashed an unreal dunk over Luka Doncic.

Andrew Wiggins’s poster dunk on Luka Dončić was the highlight of the Warriors’ 109-100 win over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals, and it was probably the best dunk in Golden State playoff history since a moment in 2007 that is seared in every fan’s memory.

Baron Davis, who posterized Andrei Kirilenko in the second round of the NBA playoffs 15 years ago, sounded off on Twitter after Wiggins’ dunk on Sunday.

It was literally an instance of “game recognizing game.”

“Put that poster on the wall,” Davis tweeted. “Say a prayer for the victim.”

The dunk, with Wiggins driving past Reggie Bullock before levitating and throwing it down over Dončić, almost didn’t count after the referees called an offensive foul on Wiggins. But they came to their senses and overturned the call after a replay review.

They were similar dunks too, with Davis shielding off Kirilenko with an arm while Wiggins delivered a left arm to Dončić's face as he slammed it over him.

Unfortunately, Wiggins’ celebration of the dunk was ruined by referee Marc Davis' offensive foul call, as he was too busy complaining about the foul to enjoy the moment. That was in contrast to Baron Davis lifting up his jersey in celebration of his dunk over Kirilenko.

Whether Wiggins’ dunk over Dončić tops the chart of greatest dunks in Warriors’ history over Baron Davis’ poster on AK47 is certainly a debate. But it has certainly joined the Mount Rushmore of that category.
