Wiggins left off ESPN's top 100 for second straight season

Andrew Wiggins has stayed busy this offseason, as he’s clearly hit the gym. The Warriors wing spoke on how much time he spent in the gym this offseason and whether he might play in the power forward spot this season.

Is Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins going to be one of the top-100 players in the NBA this season?

According to the good folks over at ESPN, the answer to that question is ... nope.

The 25-year-old missed the cut for the second straight year.

As you can see by that trajectory, Wiggins has the opportunity with Golden State to change the perception and narrative surrounding his game.

Stephen A calls Draymond out after Warriors' loss to Nuggets

He did not live up to expectations with the Minnesota Timberwolves after entering the NBA as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft, but believes his role within Steve Kerr's system will showcase his strengths.

“This, for me, is a lot better,” Wiggins told the Bay Area News Group's Wes Goldberg. “I don’t have to come off of three pick-and-rolls, two pick-and-rolls.

"This is more just passing and cutting, and more easy shots.”

TNT's Kenny Smith in August made a bold declaration when he said Wiggins will be an All-Star this season.

The Warriors believe he can blossom into a true difference maker.

"For him, there's been a lot of conversations, especially coming out of the trade last year and this offseason -- I know he's heard a lot of the noise on where he fits in our long-term plans or if he's going to get moved or all the other nonsense," Steph Curry said Monday. "I've always been in the camp of he has so much to prove in terms of taking the next step in his career and organization and with the potential that we all have in terms of unlocking some of the things that will help us be a winning basketball team and him having a huge part in that.

"For him, it's the theme of just get better, commit to what's going to get us as a team to the next level and where he can really show his value and his ability out there on the floor and kind of put all the doubters to rest."
