The Sharks are short-handed, but they're still alive.
Thanks to a wild win over the Vegas Golden Knights in Tuesday's Game 7, the Sharks advanced from the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs to set up a second-round series with the Colorado Avalanche. That begins Friday at 7 p.m. at SAP Center, but San Jose will do so without captain Joe Pavelski and skilled winger Joonas Donskoi.
The Avalanche, however, are healthy and hot. They dispatched the top-seeded Calgary Flames in five games a week ago, with All-Star forwards Nathan MacKinnon (five goals, three assists) and Miiko Rantanen (five goals, four assists) leading the way offensively.
