Sharks announce fans can attend home games on April 26

The Sharks have announced their plan for fans to return to home games at SAP Center this season, beginning with the team's April 26 matchup against the Arizona Coyotes.

Similar to plans enacted by the Warriors and Giants, the Sharks will require proof of either a negative COVID-19 test within the previous 48-72 hours leading to puck drop, or proof of full vaccination from the virus.

“On behalf of the entire Sharks organization, I am elated to welcome fans back to SAP Center at San Jose,” said Jonathan Becher, President of Sharks Sports & Entertainment, in a statement. “The health and safety of all event attendees continues to be our top priority. SAP Center recently achieved the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR Accreditation™, the gold-standard designation awarded to select venues that have established procedures to prepare, respond, and recover from outbreaks and pandemics. We appreciate the patience of our fans over the past year and we're thankful for your trust to provide you with a safe and enjoyable experience.”

The Sharks also will require face coverings both inside the arena and in parking lots and security areas.

Tickets will be sold in pods of two or four, and eating and drinking inside the arena only will be permitted in designated locations in SAP Center's North Club and Upper Mezzanine sections.

The Sharks will have seven home games remaining with fans in the building, as the organization will run a soft opening with family members of players and team personnel at the April 24 game against the Minnesota Wild.
